Waiting for the Pope along the parade route

Sept 17-21--Havana, Cuba--One of the most exhilarating and wonderful trip to see The Pope on his travel to Cuba.  Unlike, the high security protocol in other parts of the world, during the Cuban visit the security detail was present but not as ominous as seen in other countries.  We were safe and so was The Pope.  Over a million people gathered along the parade route and at the Sunday mass.

Special Olympics World Games

The Special Olympics Oath

July 25-29--Los Angeles, CA--The Special Olympics World Games held in Los Angeles, for the 7 time, was selected to officiate basketball at the World Games.  My main job was to referee but of course had time to make a few images.  This year I concentrated on making portraits.

May 05, 2015—Hyannis Port, MA—Being familiar with the location and the people makes it easier for better portraits.  Shot on the bridge to the beach, overlooking the Kennedy Compound, it didn’t take much to convince the talented and wonderful artist Romero Britto to let me make his photograph.

Dr. Norman C. Francis

April 22, 2015—Washington, DC—One great privilege as a photographer is the meeting of extraordinary people.  Dr. Norman C. Francis is such a person.  The past president of Xavier University in New Orleans, he led the institution for 47 years.  His leadership provided many opportunities for students and the people of New Orleans.  He is a leader in education and in 2006 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

San Francisco

April 04, 2015—San Francisco—It is not often that a day is spent just wandering around with a camera and finding images.  But an extra day was built into a business trip to do such an adventure.  Luckily the weather was perfect and the location picturesque.  Three the Japanese Tea Garden, Chinatown, and TransAmerica Pyramid provided great photo opportunities.
