Best Buddies Challenge DC

October 19--Poolesville, Maryland to Leesburg, Virginia--A government shut down almost cancelled the Audi Best Buddies Challenge bike ride.  But solving problems found solutions and the ride commenced from a different location.  The ride started at the Poolesville Golf Course and went by a scenic route through Maryland and Virginia.

Best Buddies Challenge--DC

October 20, 2012 Washington, DC--Over 1400 people participated as riders, runners and walkers to raise over $1.4 million for Best Buddies.  This is the third annual Audi Best Buddies Challenge.

Covering these events for a long time, I try to find something different and capture the essence of the day.  There is so much going on, it is important to isolate and find situations that show faces.  People make this day special.  Find people and make them comfortable in front of the camera and find moments amongst all the action going on to make the activities unique.

2007 Best Buddies Challenge

Monterey CA September 8--The best cyclist in the world joined over 1000 riders in the Best Buddies Challenge 100 mile ride along the Pacific Coast Highway from Monterey to The Hearst Castle. Over 2.2 million dollars was donated to support Best Buddies in their mission to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

From Team T-Mobile we have Axcel Mercks who just returned as captain from the Tour de France squad, Aaron Olsen who just placed 3rd overall in the Tour of Ireland, Kim Anderson who recently placed in the Redlands Classic, Kim Baldwin and Olympic Silver medalist Mari Holden

* Team CSC: David Zabriskie one of 3 Americans to wear the yellow Jersey in the history of the Tour de France Yellow Jersey and Lars Michaelsen whom just had a very strong finish in the Paris-Roubaix.

* Team Jelly Belly: Alex Candelario (2007 WIN) & Mike Jones (2007 WIN)

* Team Kodak Gallery and Team Kona: Ryan Trebon first American man to claim national championships in cross-country mountain bike and cyclo-cross.

* Team Tibco: Stacy Marple and Victoria Bastide
