Pennies for the Planet

Annandale, VA, June, 10--Billy B, The Natural Science Song and Dance Man, leads students from Columbia Elementary School in an Audubon BioBash. The students earned this presentation because they raised over 76,700 pennies to contribute $767.41 for Audubon's Pennies for the Planet Campaign.

Over 400 Columbia Elementary students and teachers participated in the Pennies for the Planet campaign. This program raised over $45,000 in the past two years and connects young people with environmental issues and actions to protect nature and habitats.

(This shot was arranged in a customer's backyard in DC. We brought an extra grill to the location, rearranged the area and had Ben start a fire. In and out within 2 hours.)

LASERFEST on Capitol Hill

Washington, DC, April28, 2010--Laser demonstrations and exhibits on Capital Hill in recognition of Laserfest, sponsored by the Optical Society.

Rep. Vern Ehlers makes comments in the Rayburn House Foyer.

(Tech notes--Upon arriving the reception, the podium where Rep. Ehlers spoke originally was windows facing outside. Realizing this wouldn't work-the flash would reflect as well as not look good. Went into action, luckily the OSA had the Laserfest banners at their exhibit. With the help of the OSA folks, we moved the banners behind the podium and angled them so they would not reflect the light. So it looks better and helps to "brand" the event. Thank you OSA!!)
