Washington, DC, April28, 2010--Laser demonstrations and exhibits on Capital Hill in recognition of Laserfest, sponsored by the Optical Society. 
Rep. Vern Ehlers makes comments in the Rayburn House Foyer. (Tech notes--Upon arriving the reception, the podium where Rep. Ehlers spoke originally was windows facing outside. Realizing this wouldn't work-the flash would reflect as well as not look good. Went into action, luckily the OSA had the Laserfest banners at their exhibit. With the help of the OSA folks, we moved the banners behind the podium and angled them so they would not reflect the light. So it looks better and helps to "brand" the event. Thank you OSA!!)
